If you have not been to London before it can seem big, busy and a little intimidating.
Having a single, simple, cheap travel pass that allows you to use most modes of public transport within the capital -
the famous London Underground or 'tube', the equally famous London red buses, the Docklands Light Railway and more -
means that you can focus on what you came to London for - enjoyment!
No queuing for travel tickets, no having to explain yourself every time you want to make a journey -
where you want to go, when you want to go, how you want to go...
With the London Pass including transport, all your travel within London Transport Zones 1-6 is paid for.
Problem solved!
The transport option that comes with the London Pass, if you choose to buy it, is the London Underground Travelcard.
This allows you unlimited travel, within the times and dates specified, on most of the public transport available around London.
To start travelling, your London Pass and Travelcard simply need to be valid, signed and dated, and then you’re off!
Your Travelcard will get you to every attraction covered by the London Pass, even Windsor Castle which is outside the normal Zones 1-6.
For Windsor, simply show the ticket attendant your valid Travelcard accompanied by the London Pass, and he or she will let you travel -
a special treat just for London Pass customers!
The Travelcard will be accepted on the following services:
| • | London Underground trains |
| • | Transport for London buses click for route map |
| • | Docklands Light Rail |
| • | Over-ground trains within zones 1-6 |
| • | Tramlink |
| • | First Great Western travelling to Windsor |
Note that the Travelcard does not get you free entry to the London sightseeing buses, but with your London Pass you can claim a discount with the Big Bus Company plus 33% off Riverboat services!
Your Travelcard will be date stamped on issue to reflect the days it is valid for. Please ensure you have selected the correct start
date for your London Pass as your Travelcard will have the same start date.
If you are collecting it in London your Travelcard will be date stamped when you pick it up.
The following validity rules also apply:
| • | 1-day Travelcards (off-peak) can be used from 9.30am Mondays to Fridays, all day Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, on each day of validity and for any journey that starts before 4.30am on the day following the expiry date. |
| • | 2 and 3-day Travelcards (off-peak) can be used from 9.30am Mondays to Fridays, all day Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, on each day of validity and for any journey that starts before 4.30am on the day following the expiry date. They are valid for use on consecutive calendar days only. |
| • | 6-day Travelcards can be used at any time during the period of validity and for any journey that starts before 4.30am on the day following the expiry date. Plus, when you buy a 6 day-London Pass with travel you get a 7th day of additional London travel, FREE! Please note that you are not required to carry a photocard with any of these Travelcards - messages to this effect on the Travelcard itself should be ignored. |
The only London airports accessible with your Travelcard are Heathrow and London City Airport.
If you are flying into one of these airports and have had your Travelcard delivered to you at home, you will be able to use it on the public transport services shown above, to get into the city centre.
However please remember that 1, 2 and 3 day Travelcards can not be used before 9.30am, as detailed above, and that public transport services do not continue all through the night.
If you have chosen to collect your London Pass with travel in London, you will have to buy a separate ticket to reach the city centre because the collection point itself is in the city centre.
The airports NOT covered by your Travelcard are Gatwick Airport, Stansted Airport and Luton Airport. From these airports you will need to pay separately for some or all of your journey into central London. Please refer to the table below for more information.
